Reserve your spot

Privacy policy

The Fridge Card is based in Toronto, Ontario. This page says what we collect on thefridgecard.com, why, who else handles it, and how to ask us to change or delete it. Questions go to [email protected].

1. What we collect

1.1 When you reserve a spot: your business name and the email you pay with. For your ad, whatever you send us to print: logo, offer, phone number, website, photos and text. We use this to build, print and mail your ad and to send you proofs, receipts and reminders.

1.2 When you use a form on the site (waiting list, giveaway or bonus entry, preview request): the email address and the details the form asks for, such as postal code, business name, category or the month you are entering. We use them to run the giveaway, tell you when a card opens in your area, and reply to you.

1.3 When you claim an offer from a business's page: we record that the offer was claimed and which business it belongs to. That count goes into the business's results report. It does not name you.

1.4 Technical data: your IP address and browser details reach our host when you load a page or submit a form. We use them to block bots and limit abuse.

1.5 How you found us: if you arrive from one of our ads or from another website, your browser keeps a short note of where you came from, such as the ad's campaign name or the website's address, for 90 days. It is sent with your order or form so we can tell which ads bring in customers. It holds no personal details.

1.6 Ads and analytics: on our public pages (home, preview, reserve, map, area and privacy pages) we use Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel. They set cookies in your browser so we can count visits, see which steps people finish, and see which ads bring business owners here. When you send the preview form or pay for a spot, our server also tells Meta and Google about that step, with the cookie ids, your IP address and browser details, and for Meta a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email, so they can match it to the ad you saw. Your private order, proof and results pages carry none of these tags.

2. What we do not collect

2.1 We never see or store your card number. Payment is handled by Stripe.

2.2 We do not sell your data, and we do not use the tags in 1.6 on pages you reach through a private link. The note in 1.5 and drafts you type into the ad builder are saved in your own browser.

3. Who else handles it

3.1 Stripe takes card payments and issues receipts.

3.2 Cloudflare hosts the site, stores our order records and uploaded files, and runs the bot check on our forms.

3.3 Resend delivers our emails.

3.4 Systeme.io holds our email list for people who ask to hear from us.

3.5 Canada Post and our printer receive the finished card. They do not receive your personal data beyond what is printed in the ad.

3.6 Google (Analytics) and Meta (the Meta Pixel) receive what 1.6 describes, and use it under their own privacy policies.

3.7 These providers may store data outside Canada. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

4. Email

4.1 Order emails (receipts, proofs, deadlines) are sent because you bought a spot.

4.2 We send news or offers only if you tick the box to hear from us. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to us to stop.

5. How long we keep it

5.1 Order and payment records are kept as long as Canadian tax and accounting rules require.

5.2 Waiting-list and giveaway entries are kept until you ask us to delete them or the list is no longer used.

5.3 Ads you approve are printed and mailed, so we cannot recall a printed card.

6. Your choices

6.1 You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or withdraw your consent to email. Write to [email protected] from the address you used. We delete what we are allowed to, and tell you what we must keep and why.

6.2 If you are not happy with how we handled a request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

6.3 In most of Canada the tags in 1.6 run unless you turn them off. In Quebec and outside Canada they run only if you allow them.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page. See also our advertiser terms.
